Honey Ginger Simple Syrup

A delicious way to spice up your coffee sweetener

This sweet, spicy syrup is perfect for flavoring iced coffee, cold brew coffee and many more of your favorite drinks. Here’s how to make and store it.


In a small saucepan, combine honey, water and ginger. Simmer for 35-40 minutes.


Strain syrup into a jar. Discard ginger pieces, then let syrup cool before sealing the jar.


For Honey Ginger Iced Coffee: Fill a glass with ice and 1-2 tablespoons of syrup.


Add coffee brewed double strength. Try Starbucks® Breakfast Blend, Ethiopia or Kenya.


Top off with creamer (optional).


What You'll Need

½ cup honey
½ cup water
1-inch piece* fresh ginger, peeled and cut into pieces
*For a stronger flavor, use a 2-inch piece of ginger.

How To Make

  • In a small saucepan, combine honey, water and ginger pieces. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and stir. Let simmer for 35-40 minutes. Pour the syrup through a strainer into a jar. Discard the ginger pieces and let the syrup cool before sealing the jar. Store in the fridge for up to 2-3 weeks.
