Chemex Step 2
STEP 2

Wet the filter with hot water

Thoroughly wet the filter to preheat your brewer. When discarding the water, pour it away from the spout.

Chemex Step 3
STEP 3

Add medium ground coffee

Use 9 Tbsp (45 g) of ground coffee for every 24 fl oz (720 ml) of water. Tap gently to even out the grounds and set the scale to zero.

Chemex Step 4

Slowly pour a bit of water onto the grounds

Stop when all the grounds are saturated. Wait 30 seconds to let the coffee bloom.

Blooming helps the coffee release natural fragrances, giving it a fuller flavor.

Slowly pour more water

Starting in the center of the brew bed, slowly pour a pencil-thin stream of water, spiraling outward. Stop when 2⁄3 of the water has been poured.

When the coffee stops dripping, discard the filter and gently swirl to experience the nuanced aroma.

Chemex Step 8
STEP 8

Pour & enjoy your coffee at home!
