How to Make Cold Brew Coffee with a Mason Jar

ABOUT THIS GUIDE

Using a simple Mason jar, you can easily make your own homemade cold brew—the perfect refreshment for warmer days.

WATER-TO-COFFEE RATIO

  • 4 Tbsp
    coarse ground coffee per 6 fl oz water (20 g per 180 ml)​

How to Make Cold Brew Coffee with a Mason Jar

STEP 1

Add the coarse ground coffee

Use 4 Tbsp (22 g) of coffee for each cup (6 fl oz, 180 ml).

Add water into the jar

Carefully pour water into the jar, then give the grounds a swirl to thoroughly wet them.

Cover the jar

Cover the Mason jar with a cheesecloth and secure it with a rubber band.

STEP 4

Let the coffee steep

Leave your coffee for 12 hours. Enjoy waking up to a perfectly concentrated brew.

Separate the coffee from the grounds

Strain the coffee into a pitcher by pouring it through a cheesecloth.

Add water, ice & you’re good to go

Pour one part concentrate with one part water into a glass with fresh ice, and enjoy your coffee at home!

Adjust the flavor of your cup to your preferred taste by adding more or less water. Give your cold brew a twist by serving it with a touch of cream, coconutmilk or seltzer.

QUICK TIPS

Have some brew left over? Freeze it into ice cubes for a ready-made treat on a hot day.
